Exterior - Elevations
Views from the south, east and west.

Early plans specified that the ground floor would contain a bank in the space that became the main entrance hall and shops along the west front. The bank idea was soon dropped but a row of shop spaces was built, and the windows were boarded up when the building was opened.

West elevation  


above - The West Front. The large area of this face is broken by the vertical breaks in the grouping of the windows and by the balcony at third floor level, above which is a carving of the BBC coat of arms.
below left - The East Front, facing Langham Street. This shot shows the shape of the roof, made necessary by the existence of 'Ancient Lights'. Intake panels at the third floor level supplied some of the ventilating and air-conditioning plants.
below right - The South Front with All Souls Church to the right.
