This pretty village, just west of Eastbourne, was, like Alfriston, home to smugglers and wreckers. They no doubt met at the Tiger Inn, which is just out of this picture, to the right. The inn was incorrectly named after an animal on the escutcheon of the lord of the manor. The animal was a leopard !
